 Date :  27 July, 2017

A delegation of 18 pilots from the Ministry of National Guards Aviation Authority visited the Decision Support Center (DSC) to see the center’s capabilities in modeling, simulation and analysis MS&A and its advanced state-of-the-art infrastructure. The delegation was led by Brigadier General Turki Altasan, and it was received by the DSC’s co-director from King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Dr. Mohammed Al-Ghafees, and the co-director from Boeing, Ali Alwabel.

The audience was briefed on the center’s vision, mission, and objectives and on themes including training and education, consultation, conferencing, research and development (R&D), and products and tools. The audience was also exposed to the projects and the current and potential partners with which the center is working. After presenting the center’s capabilities from both sides (KACST and Boeing), the delegation visited the laboratories, where they were shown the equipment setup and were briefed on multiple military scenarios developed by the center’s operational analysts and software engineers (SWEs). They also had the opportunity to see and use some advanced equipment, such as virtual reality smart glasses that enable engagement with digital content and interaction with holograms, and the touch table, which can be used to view military operations and deployments and which can be presented on different geographic information system layers in high resolution and clear elevations. Lastly, the audience visited the rapid deployment lab, which, as its name indicates, consists of small, high-end computers that can run and simulate complex military scenarios to model and understand the different available options that can be transported and deployed quickly as needed.
