Project Description

Defense and security programs designed to acquire and sustain advanced military capabilities are one of the major value-creation efforts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) that serves Saudi Vision 2030, and King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has been contributing to these wealth-creation efforts through the Decision Support Center (DSC). The use of the DSC and its partnership with Boeing will assist in better understanding the future strategic scenarios facing the KSA in particular and the region in general, thus enabling better preparation to meet them  by investing in the right defense capabilities.

The DSC plans to propagate within KACST more widely the science of decision-making and the art of supporting it by developing an advanced decision support system as the main integrated engine supporting decision makers. This will involve collecting and analyzing military big data to identify military capabilities, recognize potential threats and gaps, and explore options and alternative solutions effectively and in a timely manner to reduce potential risks. The system represents information as statistical values, explanatory graphs, and interactive maps indicating a range of choices for a given decision.  Advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) tools are being used in the development of this system to support decision-making processes.

This decision support system aims to support the study and analysis of military capabilities; the identification and prediction of any potential threats against neighboring countries, threatening countries, or even friendly countries; and the ability to implement what-if scenarios. Intelligent decisions and recommendations are provided based on available resources.
